As a cradle of Western civilization, Greece is an endless inspiration for travel, sightseeing, and exploration. The capital – Athens’s rich history is a sufficient reason to visit this beautiful country.
The famous Acropolis Hill with its citadel overlooking the city is a focal point and an absolute must-see because of its aesthetical values and historical significance. A visitor is mesmerized by the columns of the famous Parthenon – the temple devoted to the goddess whose name the city bares – Athena. And one would be surprised how many antiques Easter eggs there are on Acropolis. There are 3 temples devoted to the Athena, 2 amazing theaters, and the Sanctuary of Zeus – the supreme deity of ancient Greeks. So if the antique is your thing, this is a must-see. If not, you still have gotta see it, because of the beauty of the craftsmanship of these structures and the experience itself is an outstanding one. Plus nothing beats that view of the city.
Bars and restaurants with an Acropolis view are an excellent choice, especially at night when the Parthenon is well-lit.
One of the perks of this city is the metro – because of its layered history – you will see in some of the station’s glassed walls so you can see walls or similar structures from the antique, Byzantine, Ottoman, to 19th century periods.
To be continued.
