Today you cross the border into Bosnia and Herzegovina for a fascinating journey to the historic city of Mostar, a place where cultures, religions, and histories intersect. As you explore the city with your guide, you’ll gain insight into the profound impact of the Yugoslav War of the 1990s—visible even today in preserved remnants on many buildings—while learning how Mostar has emerged as a vibrant, welcoming destination.
Wander through the charming old town, where cobblestone streets lead past lively cafés and artisan shops, and admire the striking contrast between Christian and Ottoman architecture. The highlight of the visit is the iconic 16th-century Old Bridge (Stari Most), gracefully spanning the emerald-green Neretva River and symbolizing both the city’s turbulent past and its resilience.
On the return journey, stop at a traditional family-owned farmstead to enjoy an authentic taste of local cuisine. Sample regional specialties such as freshly grilled ćevapi and kebabs, sweet baklava, and rich Turkish coffee—an ideal way to conclude a day immersed in Herzegovina’s culture and flavors.
